Hi, I’m Lisa! I graduated from grooming school in Sacramento, CA back in 1992, and ever since I was little, I’ve known I wanted to work with animals. With over 35 years of grooming experience, I can honestly say I’ve never regretted my career choice—it’s my passion! I especially love grooming Poodles, Doodles, and Shih Tzus, but every pup in my chair gets the same love and care.



I’m so excited to bring my skills and passion for pets to Silo Spaw. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry friends!

Hi, I’m Julie!

Being part of Silo Spaw since its inception has been a very special experience. I’ve been a part of many things in life, but never like this.

I initially got into grooming by chance— the opportunity came along, and I went with it. I got the first taste of it helping a family friend in her shop over the holidays. Then, in 2016, I started working at a pet boarding kennel. Some months later, a pair of dachshunds found themselves scheduled for a haircut but their groomer wasn’t there! Having a little prior experience, I was asked if I’d like to step in. “Sure, I’ll try!”

I only grew from there, learning on the job under the guidance of an experienced groomer. Eventually, I became lead groomer, then kennel manager, and retained both titles until I moved away. In 2021, I came to Oklahoma, where I joined the team at a local grooming shop in Durant and stayed until the proprietor retired this summer. And then Silo Spaw was born!

My favorite part of grooming is seeing the attitude change in dogs that arrive anxious about grooming or about new people and places. Obviously it’s fun when a dog is happy from start to finish, but it is extremely satisfying to watch the vibe shift in an animal as they realize that everything is okay, and it’s beautiful knowing that I’m part of that realization. I love it.

Amber - Durant Location

I have been working in the bathing and grooming industry for nearly 15 years. I was first introduced to grooming when Helen’s son and I began dating, and I was quickly immersed in the field. From that moment on, I fell in love with the work and the relationships that come with it.

I am a proud pet parent to two cats, Ellis and Champ, and three dogs: Kyiah, a 7-year-old Catahoula mix; Maggie, a 3-year-old Dachshund; and Meko, a 2-year-old French Bulldog. I truly do not have a favorite breed — I love dogs of all sizes, coats, and personalities.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking. Most importantly, I love creating lasting memories with my family and children. Professionally, my goal is to help every pet feel comfortable, confident, and cared for while also supporting pet parents in any way I can. I understand that life can sometimes make routine grooming challenging, and if there is ever a way I can help ease that burden — whether through flexibility, assistance, or support — I am always happy to help.One of my favorite places to eat is Asian Gourmet.

The most important thing I want my clients to know is that their pets are always treated with love, patience, and kindness while in my care. I strive to create a positive and comforting experience for every pet, and I am truly grateful for every client who trusts me with their furry family members. I am very excited for 2026 and the opportunity to continue building relationships with both pets and their families.

Melissa - Silo Location

Meet Melissa! 🐾

Melissa Whitaker is currently training as a groomer at Silo Spaw and has been part of the team for about a month. She is learning the grooming industry and enjoying every step of the process as she continues to grow her skills.

Melissa loves working with all dogs and believes every pup has their own unique and fun personality, which makes the job even more rewarding. Her favorite part of working with dogs is helping them feel clean, comfortable, and happy, and seeing the smiles on pet parents’ faces when they pick up their freshly groomed pups.

Her love for dogs grew even stronger because of her own dog, Ryder, a Golden Retriever who completely changed her life. Ryder is almost three years old and is a big part of her family.

Melissa’s favorite breed is the Golden Retriever, and when she’s not at Silo Spaw she enjoys spending time with Ryder and getting to know the Durant community, as she is newer to the area and enjoys meeting clients and their families.

Kelsey- Durant Location

Groomer 

Kelsey is a pet stylist with 14 years of grooming experience. She received her education through PetSmart Academy and has continued growing her skills through continuing education classes over the years.

Her favorite breeds to groom are terriers and poodles, and she especially loves working with poodles because of all the creative styling options they offer.

Kelsey also offers hand-stripping, cat grooming, and can clip nails for most animals. Kelsey has loved animals her whole life and was involved in 4H and FFA, which helped grow her passion even more. She currently has three dogs of her own — a Chihuahua, a Chiweenie, and a Pit Mix.

Her favorite part of the job is getting to meet pets and, of course, falling in love with them along the way.

Tabitha - Durant Location

Groomer

Hi, I’m Tabitha! I’ve been grooming dogs for over five years. I first started grooming at PetSense, and what began as something I sort of fell into quickly turned into something I truly love.

I especially enjoy grooming Poodles and Schnauzers, and I specialize in stress-free grooming. I believe grooming should always be a positive experience, and your dog will never be forced through anything they are truly fighting or can’t be gently convinced to allow. Creating a calm, comfortable environment for every dog is something I take a lot of pride in.

I’m certified through the online grooming school Paragon, and my favorite part of grooming is giving dogs a stress-free experience and seeing the look on pet parents’ faces when they pick up their freshly groomed pup.

I have two dogs of my own—a Standard Poodle and a Doberman—and they are my whole world. My favorite breed is the Standard Poodle, and a fun fact about me is that I share a birthday with Ryan Reynolds and Weird Al!

Christie - Durant Location

Receptionist

Meet Christie Dianne Pate 🐾

Christie is the friendly face greeting you at Silo Spaw Dog Grooming as our receptionist. She brings decades of experience in the pet care industry and a lifelong passion for animals.

Christie began her journey in grooming at Marie’s Doggie Boutique in 1994, starting as a bather and dryer the day before Thanksgiving—just in time to jump into the busy Christmas rush! By the spring of 1995, she was working full time and quickly became an essential part of the team. In addition to grooming support, Christie also worked as a sales clerk in Marie’s pet shop, helping customers find the best products for their pets.

After many wonderful years serving clients and their pets, Christie continued her career in the grooming world when Marie retired in June of 2025.

Today, Christie brings her experience, kindness, and love for animals to Silo Spaw, where she helps make sure every pet and owner feels welcome the moment they walk through the door.
